Procedures:  Non-Surgical Face Lifts

One of the most popular cosmetic treatments nationwide is the use of injectable neuromodulators such as Botox and fillers such as Juvederm to fight wrinkles and rejuvenate the face’s appearance.  Achieving standout results from the use of these injections requires a clear knowledge and understanding of the face’s complex anatomy in depth.

Both Botox® and facial fillers are effective methods of rectifying signs of aging. However, the two perform very different cosmetic functions and they address very different issues.

Botox® is a neuromodulator or “relaxer”. It is used to treat wrinkles that are caused by muscle movements that fold lines into the skin.  For example, the frown line between your eyebrows, the forehead lines, and the “Crow’s feet” around the eyes.

Restylane® is an example of a “filler”. It is used to treat wrinkles and folds that are caused by gravity and loss of volume. Restylane® replaces lost volume by filling in wrinkles, plumping them up. This often results in a “lifting effect”.

When you visit Facial Rejuvenation for a Non-Surgical Face Lift with injectables, you may arrive with a preconceived notion that you’d like to treat this wrinkle with Botox® and that wrinkle with Restylane® or another filler. We’ll recommend these decisions however based on what’s medically appropriate and your physiology. We’ll develop an individual plan and approach for you to gain the most out of these treatments.  It requires a fine balance to achieve exemplary results while preserving your natural look.

Botox® (Neuromodulators)

Botox® is used as a nonsurgical procedure to smooth wrinkles that form as a result of facial movements like frowning, squinting, smiling, and other expressions we tend to make day after day. Botox® works by causing muscles to relax. Consequently, wrinkles can be diminished on the forehead, between the brows, and the crows’ feet on the sides of the eyes.

The use of Botox® is typically a painless procedure; it causes no or minimal redness and swelling, and does not entail any downtime. It takes effect within the first week after treatment and lasts approximately three to four months.

Juvederm®, Voluma®, Belotero®, & Restylane® (Facial Fillers)

Facial fillers are injectable materials that are used to add volume or plump up areas of the face, such as the lips, cheeks, temples, and under the eyes or to minimize the appearance of facial wrinkles. Although Botox® works to reduce wrinkles by weakening the movement of facial muscles, facial fillers achieve wrinkle reduction differently by filling in lines or depressions. Often a mixture of Botox® and facial fillers works best as a cosmetic treatment in combination with each other rather than being used individually.

Facial fillers such as Juvederm®, Restylane®, Belotero®, and Voluma® are made from natural components of the body that are lost with age, contributing to wrinkles and facial aging.
